Absinthium is chiefly a nervous system remedy in homeopathy. It acts strongly on the brain and spinal cord, making it useful in cases of convulsions, epilepsy, nervous excitability, and hysteria. Patients often suffer from loss of memory, confusion, unconsciousness, and violent trembling.

It is also indicated where there is sudden, intense nervous irritation with sleeplessness or delirium, often accompanied by hallucinations or involuntary movements.
