Aloe socotrina is chiefly a remedy for rectal and digestive troubles, especially piles, diarrhea, and weakness of the rectum. The keynote symptom is a constant feeling of fullness, heaviness, and a sense of insecurity of the rectum, as if stool will escape without warning. Patients often have to hurry to the toilet and may pass jelly-like, gurgling stools with much gas.

It is also useful in hemorrhoids that protrude like a bunch of grapes, are sore, tender, and bleed easily. The abdominal symptoms are often accompanied by a sense of heaviness in the lower abdomen and backache.
